Hey, sorry for the shortage of updates. I'm sure any excuse you could come up with for me is probably close to one I could invent. But classes have started, and I'm starting up with my jobs and obligations, and Prague is still beautiful.
So, I'm sure you can read at least a paragraph on my classes before I move on to more exciting things. I'm taking Elementary Czech, Contemporary European Theater, International Reporting, and Travel Writing - four really exciting classes in really different ways! Czech is just practical, and it looks like there're only going to be 2 of us in the class - accidental private language tutoring! Contemporary European Theater is co-taught by two very interesting professors (one from South Africa, one from here, both with a history of involvement in passionate political activism), and it looks like we're going to be doing a lot with the Prague theater scene outside of class, which is really cool. International Reporting is taught by this awesome, intense foreign correspondent, and I have no doubt that, by the end of the course, I will have an actual background in international reporting. And then Travel Writing is on exactly what it sounds like, which will be great in hopefully improving my travel blogging skills.
So there's your synopsis - I'm sure I'll be talking more about them as we get further into the semester. As for my other work here, I'm interning for the website RollingGlobe, which is an online travel guide designed for young people. I'm mostly blogging, writing reviews, asking/answering questions in the forums, and doing some promotional work for them. Unfortunately, I've been as-yet completely uninspired for a blog post on there, but I'm working on it. I am also working for the Prague Wanderer while I'm here, the online student newspaper for NYU in Prague. That was kind of on accident, but should be fun and some good experience. Hopefully we'll be revamping the website some, and I should have an article going up either on Friday or early next week.
So yeah! I'm certainly keeping myself busy. I've also been looking into traveling while I'm here, which is a great procrastination activity. I'm thinking about going to Turkey over my fall break with some people here, and then also just disappearing for a few days over the weekend. Will be taking a hiking trip in the Czech Republic this weekend on an NYU-organized trip, which should be super cool, and then I'm also going to Munich over the first weekend of October. So, if anyone has any sweet ideas for traveling within Central Europe or whatever, let me know! And I'll keep you guys posted whenever I write something cool for another website.
